Museum Overview

Accompanied by a guide from the Tourist Office, you will discover the remains of the Roman aqueduct of the Gier, which supplied Lugdunum with water 2000 years ago. You will also enjoy the diverse landscapes and local heritage along the 8,9 km route.

For a full or half day, set off on the hiking trails to the Plat de l'air site in Chaponost, where you will discover the longest section of aqueduct visible in France!
Along the way, your guide will tell you about the visible heritage: country houses, farm lodges, crops, the Way of St. James...
Possibility of picnicking or having a snack at the Plat de l'Air site midway through the walk, depending on the departure time.

Other details

Departure and return from Place Georges Clémenceau in Chaponost. Bring a picnic lunch, appropriate hiking shoes (such as sneakers or walking shoes), weather-appropriate clothing (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.), and enough water for the entire walk (1 liter recommended). For groups larger than 30 children, a second guide will be provided.
