Castle Life & its "Wines and Chocolates" workshop

At Château de Champ-Renard, experience "Château Life" during a 2-hour tour and share our passion for heritage, vineyards, and wine. You will taste four wines from the estate paired with four chocolates by Henri Desmoulins.

Discover, in front of the majestic façade, the history of the Domaine since its construction in 1250 and the extraordinary architecture of this former defensive castle. Then, delve into the heart of the Château, through eight centuries of history, with a visit to the old medieval rooms: the courtroom, the dungeon, and the guardroom. Continue with a visit to the aging cellar with its oak barrels, a stroll through the vineyards to discover the Domaine's different grape varieties, and a visit to the winery, with its traditional concrete vats and modern stainless steel tanks. We will share our eco-responsible choices: sustainable viticulture, organic conversion, biodiversity, agroforestry, permaculture, etc., and our winemaking philosophy.
Then, enjoy the highlight of this visit with the discovery of the Château's prestigious reception rooms, renovated in the 19th century. You will have the privilege of admiring the salons decorated with works of art, antique furniture and designer pieces, the wood-paneled room, the library and its ancient books, the billiard room and the smoking room in the pointed tower.
A workshop exploring the pairings of four wines from the Domaine with Henri Desmoulins chocolates will be offered in the Château's tasting room. We will guide you through a tasting of a white Chardonnay wine and three red wines made from Gamay and/or Gamaret grapes. We will explain the basics of wine tasting and how to pair them with the different ganaches.
