Combining history, local produce and conservation, this visit is the most comprehensive exploration of the estate.
From the privileged vantage point of the terrace overlooking the appellation, they discover the unique characteristics of Moulin-à-Vent: its granite soils and their distinctive pink sands, the impact of the winds that sweep across the AOC and the estate, and the diversity of its terroirs, of which they can already glimpse five of the 69, each with its own distinct environment. A journey into the history of the Château immerses them in three centuries of history, alongside the great families who have nurtured the estate, their faith remaining undiminished to this day.
In the winery, we focus on the technical side: explaining our methods and choices, we decipher here the genesis of our wines, from the harvest to the aging which takes place in the vaulted cellar of the estate, dating from the 16th century.
A visit to the estate's emblematic vineyard, Clos de Londres, marks the highlight of the tour. Located in the "Le Moulin-à-Vent" terroir, it offers a view of the historic windmill, an icon of the appellation. It is here, on this plot, that our most ambitious ventures began: from the transition to organic farming to the launch of massal selection and the creation of our first micro-cuvées, one grasps the very essence of the estate's existence and purpose.
Next, we offer a vertical tasting in the Chapelle des Thorins. The Château du Moulin-à-Vent cuvée, the estate's flagship wine, is tasted alongside the 2005, 2011, 2015, and 2020 vintages. These bottles, often rare, have been stored in the estate's private cellars under optimal aging conditions and demonstrate the cellaring potential of our wines. The tasting concludes with an appreciation of our single-vineyard selections from the 2023 vintage: "Les Vérillats," "Champ de Cour," and "La Rochelle."
