La Tourette Ice House

A rare and unusual building, this icehouse, built in the 18th century and restored in 2002, is a conical, semi-buried structure that was used to store the ice needed at the Château de la Tourette for food or therapeutic purposes.

It takes the form of a vaulted basin covered with a glazed tile roof. Its remarkable restoration, completed in 2002, has been recognized with several heritage awards. Located on a private plot of land below the convent, it is always visible. Guided tours are available for groups by reservation.
