Presentation

Immerse yourself in the history of Domaine de Montclair, a bourgeois house and its magnificent wooded park, passed down through generations since 1883... Then, with a sublime view, taste three different wines accompanied by a Beaujolais snack.

After a welcome at the entrance to the house, we will offer a "tour of the grounds" to discover the variety of spaces in this romantic park on the crest of the first Beaujolais hillside: the priest's garden, greenhouse and orangery, bridle path, vegetable garden, and finally, after crossing the small wood, the panoramic view from the large terrace.
At the end of the visit, take part in a guided tasting of 3 wines from Domaine de Montclair and enjoy a friendly Beaujolais snack!

The Montclair estate exemplifies the 19th century's interest in gardens: a space for display and family life, an agricultural domain and a place of innovation. The estate belonged to an old industrial family from Villefranche-sur-Saône. The Mulsant family acquired it in 1884 and made it their country residence.
The Montclair estate is situated on the crest of the first Beaujolais hillside, half an hour from Lyon. Its walled grounds are arranged around a Romantic-era manor house and its outbuildings: a former wine cellar, orangery, and lodges. The estate comprises vineyards, meadows, woods, an orchard, a traditional cottage garden, a former vegetable garden, and an ornamental park. It offers panoramic views on both sides of the ridge: the first overlooks the Saône plain, Mont Verdun, and, on a clear day, the Alpine peaks on the horizon; the second offers views of the bucolic rolling hills of Beaujolais and the light of sunset.
