Museum Overview
Guided tour with geologist Bruno Rousselle along the Tacot railway in Moiré, discovering traces of a major climate upheaval that occurred 233 million years ago.
The Carnian Pluvial Episode, which occurred 233 million years ago (mid-Triassic period), constitutes one of the most significant global climate upheavals of the Age of Dinosaurs. This large-scale global warming, triggered by powerful volcanic activity, had spectacular environmental and biological consequences. Traces of this event remain particularly clear and visible in many places in the Beaujolais des Pierres Dorées region, notably along the old railway line at Moiré. The guided tour will aim to reveal these unusual geological features and explain their nature and formation mechanisms in accessible language, in light of current climate change.
Geo event organised by the Fossilea Museum as part of the Science Festival, in partnership with the municipality of Moiré
