Presentation

Montbloy was one of the defensive castles of the Benedictine abbey of Savigny around 1190 and became the abbots' residence in the 15th century.

Overlooking the old town of Sain-Bel and the Brévenne valley, this castle has been listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments since March 2001. It is known that Charles VIII stayed there in March 1489. The frescoes in the chapel are attributed to the painter Stella.

The tour highlights the castle's importance since the Middle Ages, its frescoes, and the panoramic view from the top of the tower. It includes a visit to the old chapel with its frescoes, a climb to the top of a tower to admire the view and glimpse the distant remains of Savigny Abbey, and an exploration of the 12th-century ramparts. The tour is adapted to suit different audiences.
