Museum Overview
To mark the 100th anniversary of Miles Davis' birth and the 45th edition of the Jazz à Vienne festival, the Vienne History Museum – Saint-Pierre church, is hosting the exhibition "Miles Davis, 100 years of influence".
A major figure in the history of the festival and an absolute legend of jazz, Miles Davis will be celebrated through an immersive and sensitive journey, designed as a journey through his work and his era.
The exhibition is divided into several parts:
- Miles in the press: a dive into the specialist press with historic front pages and rare articles from Jazz Magazine
- Miles in Comics: a unique perspective in comic book form through the original artwork by Jacques Ferrandez dedicated to his biography
- Miles on Vinyl: a vinyl journey retracing the work of Miles Davis and the artists and bands who accompanied him, drawn from exceptional collections.
- Miles in photographs: previously unseen photos compiled by the INA (National Audiovisual Institute) and a collective of photographers present at the concerts presented at Jazz à Vienne
- Miles in pictures: sit back and watch INA archives, legendary concerts given at Jazz à Vienne and a preview of the new documentary on Miles directed by Patrick Savey (Zycopolis Productions)
- Miles in Music: Every day at 14 p.m., a listening room will bring together artists, collectors, and journalists to share anecdotes, analyses, and memories about the work of Miles Davis, in a spirit of transmission dear to Jazz à Vienne and JAZZ(s)RA
"Miles Davis, 100 Years of Influence" invites the public and curious visitors to rediscover the audacity, elegance, and influence of a musician who constantly reinvented jazz. A must-see event in the heart of Vienna, a vibrant celebration of his legacy.
This exhibition is co-produced by the Jazz à Vienne and JAZZ(s)RA festivals and the Isère Department. It benefits from the support of the INA, Jazz Magazine, Patrick Savey, Jacques Ferrandez as well as contributions from Isère artisans: MAM (Marc Agier-Meyer, speaker manufacturer), Jérôme Fort & l'Atelier Ondé (cabinetmakers and furniture makers), tempo fà (Caroline Guillet, antique dealer).
