Presentation

Accompanied by a cultural mediator, set off on a walk in the heart of the Beaujolais des Pierres Dorées to discover 4 works of art installed outdoors.
The walk will also pass by the Glay Quarries, a geosite of the UNESCO Beaujolais Geopark.

This guided walk is open to pre-formed groups (family gatherings, associations, works councils, etc.) all year round upon request.
The walk is also accessible all year round independently without a guide.

The 4 works of art to discover:

“Fossil Memory” by Ugo Schiavi
This artwork presents a human hand of imposing proportions firmly grasping a large stone. Or perhaps it is the stone that takes on human form? In this unsettling fusion where body and mineral merge, the carved stone sculpture freezes a gesture of grasping, both primal and everyday. Here, the memory of humankind and that of the Earth intertwine, paying homage to the skills of the past and the struggles of today. Through this dialogue between hand and matter, the artist explores the ambivalence between collaboration and domestication. The work is notably rooted in the legacy of the stonemasons of the Glay quarries, located a short distance from the artwork, whose current representatives strive to preserve the tradition. Fossil Memory, a silent witness to the relationship between humankind and its environment, underscores how time sculpts as much as it erases, in a tension that shapes our own survival.

“Org Mitra” by Vahan Soghomonian
ORG MITRA is a musical instrument created to make a highway sing and a tunnel whisper. The artwork will take the form of stalactites descending from the ceiling beneath the A89 highway. The sound composition will be created from sequences that reflect the highway's traffic patterns, as well as testimonies collected by the artist from local residents.

"The Golden Column" by Didier Marcel
The artwork serves both as a boundary marker at the edge of the forest and as an agricultural monument. Composed of casts of stacked straw bales, the sculpture's sheen will echo the local golden stone. The cultivation of the plot where it is installed and the rhythm of the seasons will contribute to the artwork's variations. The Golden Column also references the industrial order invented by the architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. It is a work characterized by the interplay between the forces of nature and human ingenuity.

"Geo-Empathy" by Julie Escoffier (Duo Evernia)
The artwork will depict the interactions of living organisms at the heart of winemaking, articulating art and science. Conceived as an ode to the work of the vine, the sculpture will be built over time. The upper section, partially copper-clad, will serve as a receptacle for rainwater, but also to collect offerings of wine. These directed liquids will become enriched with copper salts, gradually sculpting and coloring the stone. The Evernia Duo explores the effects of human activity on the environment and encourages us to pay attention to soil preservation.
