Master Philippe, nicknamed Philippe of Lyon, was the most famous miracle worker of the late 19th century. The tour in L'Arbresle explores the places where he lived or frequented for almost 30 years. It will be followed by a locally made aperitif.
Master Philippe was a famous thaumaturge who treated both the humblest and crowned heads, and frequented L'Arbresle from 1876, the date of his marriage, until his death in 1905. He was involved in the life of the small town since he held a position as a municipal councillor and was also captain of the fire brigade.
At that time, the town experienced a true industrial revolution with the establishment of factories and velvet workshops, the opening of railway lines, and the construction of two stations. The tour will reveal the places frequented by Master Philippe: the town hall, the fire station, the church, the stations... and his holiday retreat: Clos Landar.
