A landmark of innovative 20th-century architecture, the La Tourette monastery was built by Le Corbusier in the late 1950s and attracts visitors from all over the world. Today, it is inhabited by a community of 10 Dominican friars who strive to make it a place for encounters and exchanges, through cultural and spiritual sessions, as well as by organizing workshops, guided tours, school visits, and welcoming individual visitors. The monastery also serves as a venue for contemporary art exhibitions. Classified as a historical monument since 1979, since July 2016 it has been among the 17 sites designed by Le Corbusier and considered representative of his built work, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
