Come and discover the fortress of the Barony of Rochefort, a heritage site of great interest in our region! Its jewel is undoubtedly its 13th-century chapel! Thanks to the incredible panoramic views, you will understand the strategic importance of this site!

This fortified village was the object of intense rivalry during the Middle Ages between the Counts of Forez and the Counts of Lyon. Its power reached its peak in the 14th and 15th centuries. Its chapel houses beautiful stained-glass windows from the 15th and 19th centuries and a 15th-century Pietà (Virgin of Pity), an object of devotion for many pilgrims. Moreover, the route to Santiago de Compostela follows the old Roman road, which Rochefort overlooks from its rocky spur. This medieval town also offers a beautiful panorama of the Alps and the Monts du Lyonnais, and lies on the watershed between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
