Presentation

In Bagnols, only the shape of the town recalls that the village was once fortified. Strolling through the narrow streets, you will discover old Beaujolais houses with awnings (17th/19th centuries) and very beautiful panoramas of the surrounding hills.

In the village and surrounding area, you can also discover: the 15th-century church, the St-Aigues wash house, wells, a dovecote, and twelve wayside crosses, the oldest of which dates back to 1607 and stands in front of the Saint-Roch chapel. The magnificent castle, built between 1217 and 1221 in the 13th century, has been converted into a hotel and restaurant and features murals and a beautiful inner courtyard, but access is private.
