They constitute a mosaic of rare and important natural habitats, more than 300 plant species have been recorded as well as a hundred faunal species including 11 remarkable ones, and some protected at the European level such as the Eurasian eagle-owl, the hen harrier and the short-toed eagle.
These ridges are crossed by several hiking trails, they offer an exceptional panorama (views of the vineyard, the wooded hills of Haut-Beaujolais, the Saône plain and the Alps) within a rare natural setting.
This complex is based on a complex geology dating from the Primary era (410 - 290 Ma), metamorphic rocks and magmatic rocks.
