Gael FontaineSandstone blocks from the Bourdon Tower
Regnie-Durette
The micro-adventures of the Beaujolais Geopark guide you through wide open spaces, along hiking trails, and to meet local producers. During this cycling route, visit the Beaujolais terroir center and discover the Bourdon Tower.
In Beaujeu, a visit to the Beaujolais wine center is a must to learn all about the wine, life in the vineyards, and the main soil types of the vineyard. On the way back, a detour to the Tour Bourdon allows you to experience firsthand the geological and pedological realities (soil analysis) glimpsed earlier.
Situated on a hillside overlooking the Ardières valley, this locality of Régnié Durette features a soil type unique in Beaujolais, largely composed of large blocks of quartzite sandstone. These blocks have long puzzled the local scientific community, eager to better understand the processes involved in their formation, transport, and deposition at this location.
STOP PRODUCER at the Beaujolais terroir house. In addition to being a visitor center, the Beaujolais terroir house has a shop, a true showcase of the region, with around a hundred products from local artisans and producers.
