Presentation

Villefranche unveils its architectural heritage and offers an urban tour around the city's important sites. The Renaissance courtyards and the facades of private mansions form a listed Renaissance ensemble.

The 24-stage route invites you to freely discover the private mansions dating from the 15th to the 18th century hidden on either side of the Rue Nationale.

Step by step, starting from the Tourist Office with the totems installed along the Rue Nationale, you will learn about the history and architecture of the Renaissance courtyards, the facades of private mansions forming a listed Renaissance ensemble.

You will sometimes be able to step inside the houses to appreciate their refined interiors. You will also have the option of listening to audio commentary by renting audio guides (€3/audioguide).

And to make sure you don't miss anything, stop by the Tourist Office to pick up the circuit map and, if you wish, buy the complete tour booklet (€6,90), a souvenir of your visit to the capital of Beaujolais.

Then, all you have to do is follow the markers which will reveal fascinating anecdotes about the buildings...
