V Philippe-JanonSalles Chapter
Rooms-Arbuissonnas-en-Beaujolais
The church dates from the 11th century and has a two-story square bell tower, as well as a flamboyant Gothic porch. Adjoining the 12th-century cloister, of which only a series of colonnades remain, romance and serenity define this magical place. A must-see!
The priory of St Martin de Salles was founded by the monks of Cluny around 950. The church dates from the 11th century (apse) and the 12th centuries and has a two-story square bell tower.
Please note, masses are from 10:30 to 11:30 on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
The cloister was built in the 12th century. Today, only a gallery lined with alternating single and double slender columns remains. The chapter house (late 14th/early 10th century) contains murals, works of art, and local artifacts. Visits to the cloister and chapter house are available for groups by appointment.
