Hôtel-Dieu Belleville-en-BeaujolaisGame-Tour: Sister Martinière's Secret
Belleville-en-Beaujolais
Etienne Ramousse Destination Beaujolais
Christian NOMINE - Blacé Photo ClubThis Hôtel-Dieu, which opened in 1733 and has remained intact, forms a unique ensemble in the Beaujolais region. The three wards, two chapels, apothecary, council chamber, and archives are invaluable witnesses to hospital life in the 18th century.
Accessible to people with reduced mobility (except for the Sisters' Chapel). A privileged witness to hospital history from the 18th century to the present day, the one-hour tour immerses you in daily hospital life, showcasing visual artifacts, antique pharmacy and surgical instruments, therapeutics, and the preparation of remedies. Be captivated by the authenticity of this place and explore the three wards still in use in 1991, the two chapels, and the herb garden. The apothecary and its collections of earthenware, porcelain, and glassware, as well as the Council Chamber, are also accessible via guided tour.
The abbey church is closed to the public in 2026 due to renovations; it can be visited but only from the outside.
