Museum Overview

The estate boasts some of the region's finest wines. All production is vinified, aged, and bottled at the Château. Aging takes place in an open cellar. The wine cellar's tasting room offers a chance to discover the Château's wines.

Since the Middle Ages, Château de Pizay has been producing wines that delight even the most discerning Beaujolais enthusiasts. Located in the heart of the Beaujolais crus, the estate perpetuates a winemaking expertise that respects tradition, giving rise to wines recognized and enjoyed far beyond its borders.

Steeped in nearly a thousand years of history, the site suggests the layout of a Roman villa, a hypothesis reinforced by the proximity of an ancient road. First mentioned in 1030 in the charters of Cluny Abbey, the Château de Pizay was fortified as early as 1070, before the construction of its keep in the 14th century. In the 18th century, the addition of a formal French garden further enhanced the harmony and charm of the estate.

Today, Château de Pizay is among the emblematic estates of Beaujolais, with 80 hectares of vines spread over several appellations, and offers an experience combining heritage, landscapes and the art of living.
